200 Million Americans Now Online

According to the latest Nielsen/NetRatings study, 204 million Americans had Internet access during February 2004. That’s 75 percent of the American population of people two years old or older! That’s up from 66 percent a year ago.

The numbers are consistent across age ranges and gender. In the prime donor group of Americans 55 years of age and older, 63.4 percent are online. The highest group Nielsen measures is females 35-54, of which 81.7 percent are online. Next highest is males of that age range, followed by all Americans in the 2-17 year old age range (presumably those 2 year olds are using their big brothers’ credit cards to make donations).

So, now that your oldest board members are the only Americans NOT online, isn’t it time you decided to make it a significant part of your marketing program?
