Returnpath.net Offers E-Mail Address Change Service
December 15, 2000 - Articles in both DMNews.com and Direct's Newsline both talk about returnpath.net's e-mail address correction service. However, frequent attempts to access the site directly this weekend were met with "Internal Server Error" messages. According to Dean Tomasula, Senior Editor of DM News, "The service, available at www.returnpath.net, uses a contributed database. Marketers contribute their databases of e-mail names, and ReturnPath sends notification to consumers on the list that they can review their data. The company enables consumers to review which e-mail addresses are on marketers' files and allows them to update their data. ReturnPath said 22 companies are enrolled in its network. DoubleClick Inc. is a minority investor in the company. According to Richard H. Levey of direct newsline, "Return Path will allow consumers to review which of their e-mail addresses are on marketers' files, and allows them to update the addresses, leave them as they appear or unsubscribe from various services. Consumers can either universally change their contact information to one e-mail address, or select different addresses to receive messages from different marketers." | |
