Local Nonprofit Uses E-Mail to Sell Tickets

Very few nonprofits are taking advantage of the power and cost efficiency of the Internet to engage their supporters and strengthen relationships. One exception is a theater company in our backyard, and I'm please that they sent me an e-mail last week, announcing a new show just in time for Halloween. Here's how it starts:

Subject: The Woman in Black
Date: Fri, 13 Oct 2000 13:27:47 -0400
From: ShenanArts <theatre@shenanarts.org>

Halloween Ghost Story

ShenanArts' production of The Woman in Black will take you to another time and place, as you are transported to the misty coast of northern England over sixty years ago. This spooky tale written by Stephen Mallatratt and based on the book by Susan Hill, weaves through time and space through the haunting events of the "Woman in Black." Join ShenanArts on this fright-filled journey October 20-21 and 25-28 at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, in Healy Hall Theatre.

The e-mail has a link to their web site, www.shenanarts.org. Unfortunately, one can't buy tickets online (yet) but there is a print-and-mail order form.
